The Etude magazine, April 1908. Young man plays the piano to an entranced young woman.
The Library of Congress says that it was published as “THE ETUDE AND MUSICAL WORLD” in 1896-1897, and they have Vol. 14, no. 1 (Jan. 1896). Title became THE ETUDE for 1897-1922, ETUDE MUSIC MAGAZINE 1922-1948, and simply ETUDE 1948-57. Last issue in LC was May 6, 1957.
and for my next trick …
Couple Kissing at Piano (1907). Frank X. Leyendecker (1876-1924). The Saturday Evening Post, July 27, 1907.
FX Leyendecker was the younger brother of the longer lived and more prolific JC Leyendecker. In reality, FX paved the way for JC. He was every bit as colorful, creative, entertaining and flamboyant as his older brother, with an impressive catalog including posters, cover art, book plates, advertising, and more. His covers for Vanity Fair, the humor Life, and Vogue are stand-outs.
